Thinking about trying Badoo? Here’s what you need to know…
Created in 2006, the app claims to have over 250 million users in 190 countries. According to Badoo CMO Dominic Gallello, 91,000 people each week delete the app because they met someone on it.
The Basics of Badoo
Although you can download the app on your laptop, the location based chat features make it more suited for your smart phone.
Click on the heart or the X to like or dislike your match. While you can only see one encounter at a time, there is no limit to the number of matches you can connect with in one day.
You can click on any of these pictures and either like their profile or start a chat. And just like on Happn, the app also shows you other users you’ve bumped into and displays the time and location your paths crossed.

A basic Badoo account is free. But paying the subscription fee will unlock the app’s premium features, called “Super Powers.” The amount you pay depends on the length of your subscription:

- See who added you to their “Favorites” list
- Browse through profiles anonymously
- Undo your last vote
- Chat with the most popular Badoo users
- Contact new users right away
- Your messages get priority in the recipients inbox
- Unlock “cool” stickers
- No ads
You can also buy credits to boost your exposure on the site. Just a couple of bucks will buy some “Spotlight” time, which ensures your photo and profile get priority ranking with 100 new users. It’s a great way to boost your matches!
